ANEW

ANEW

Inks all dry in the fountain
Words hiding in Pandorian box
Like the autumn leaves in dust
Ivory sheets are yellowed with rust
The Poems no more rhyme....

Paints all hard and stoned
Brushes sans lustre and grace
No scene worthy of frame
Canvass has turned dull grey
The Colors no more vibe....

The strings are out of chord
Woods all damp and cold
Locked inside the leather case
My guitar's in a ghouly mess
The Music no more soothes....

The journey has many fold pace
About the meanders i have no clue
Transcending to another phase
But i find no you
Passe old ownself, this is me anew!

OPTIMISTICALLY

OPTIMISTICALLY

From home onto a new road map
The ship has sailed to the dock
With an oscillating melody of tik tok
It is the unchained racing clock
From atop the mounts of obstacles high
A new horizon is in sight
Surely can reach it with a try
Wings all spread for the flight

CLEOPATRA KISSED AGAIN!

CLEOPATRA KISSED AGAIN!

A tale of two Cleopatra of their times
One by her name, charm, valor and lineage
The other with her talent, beauty and grace

A tale of two regal Queens of their times
One ruled the ancient Egypt with her might
The other conquered people’s hearts through celluloid

A tale of two ravishing beauties adorned by men of their times
While one had charmed famous Julius and Marc onto their knees
The other had wed the likes of Todd, Burton and Fortensky

A tale of two femme heroes in their own rights
One had marched into the Roman Civil War
The other was fighting the issues affecting the world around her

A tale of two Cleopatra kissed by death
One had her aspine death to mourn her love
The other died of age battling her ill-health, the legendary Elizabeth Taylor

CUPID IN LOVE

CUPID IN LOVE
Copyright © SHRAVANI MUKHERJEE
The archer with his bowstring stretched
Golden  arrows with a heart in red
The son of Venus marks his aim
Young at heart are lovesick again
This all a Cupid’s play
Fragrance amorous in the air

No love story told without his name
Heres the one when he was caught in his own game:
A folklore ride of Cupid and Psyche’s tale
In a time long ago at a heavenly Greek locale
The Larks were singing their spring sonnet
Lavenders in full bloom with swarms of hornets
Springs a busy season, these were busy days
So the white winged bowman lay down to laze
The warm day light pierced the canopy green
Paving its way for serene Selene
On a hunt to act a devious plan by Venus
In search of a dame mortal who’d made her jealous
He was to strike the fair thence in her sleep
To awaken and fall in love with a wild boar or sheep

Once in her lair, ready with his bow
Eros was now to shoot his love arrow
But… Behold! There asleep her beauteous self
Psyche was radiating her ethereal grace, her only defense
This was the moment celestially charmed
When he lost his grip of the weapon from his arms
The love-spear fell right on his toe
Cupid was struck by his own arrow
A thousand lyres began in chorus to play
The melody of love celebrating this auspicious day
The rest of the myth is a long fairy tale
With inevitable kiss and happily after story to tell
Their epic adventure in a brief note
Psyche and Cupid wed and are immortals of heavenly abode

MY PATRICK IMMORTAL

God sure is lucky
To have you there
Three years since
Heath is no more here
Yet legends live on
And Ledger was the one
Many a roles, but just to name a few
He hath evolved from:
Gabriel, a martyr son
To the bushranger from Oz
The romantic Venetian lover
To Grimm, a storyteller
A westside gay loner
And the ruthless smiley joker,
He had played them all

A NEW DAY

A NEW DAY
Copyright © SHRAVANI MUKHERJEE

Dawn is breaking
It’s a new day
The crown in the East
Showering its golden ray

To start afresh
Its a new day
On the road
To pave my own way

The sun arises
Its a new day
A hope is born
Just like blooms of may

With a new horizon
It’s a new day
Weave all good reasons
Into a story to say

In this new year
Blessed every new day
For all faith and courage
To Him I pray
