Unrequited: The Divine Comedy!

Luckily fate brought them together twice
But Dante's love was unrequited, from his side
The mischievous Cupid was at his play
His amorous charms shielded away from Beatrice dame
A May flower, that he first saw when he was eight
Bowled over by her grace and beauty from the moment they met
Unaware of his awe and chalance
She lived her parallel life, love and death
The cruel comedy, with him the divine plotted
Dante in his famed work had jotted
Dante-Beatrice live no more
Yet the Gods still play the chess of unrequited amor
