Rhetorical

Rhetorical
an english translation attempt of  Kaifi Azmi's "Koi ye kaise kahe"
Copyright © SHRAVANI MUKHERJEE

koi ye kaise bataaye ke wo tanhaa kyon hai
wo jo apnaa thaa, wahi aur kisi kaa kyon hai
yahi duniyaan hain to fir, aysi ye duniyaan kyon hai
yahi hotaa hai to, aakhir yahi hotaa kyon hai?

Rhetoric quest rhymes in one’s emptiness
Haunts the past in not being your present tense
If its the ebb, why not run against the tide?
Why is it always a race against the time?
ik zaraa haath bada de to, pakad le daaman
us ke seene mein samaa jaaye, humaari dhadkan
itni kurbat hain to fir faaslaa itnaa kyon hai?

For someone who cares, dreamt to shower all love
In his arms lost away from the world
Yet the love-song is now a symphony without accord
dil-e-barabaad se nikalaa naheen abatak koee
ik loote ghar pe diyaa karataa hain dastak koee
aas jo toot gayee hain fir se bandhaataa kyon hai?

When a wrecked ship is lost in the tempestuous ocean of pain
The light house flickers inside you the optimist again
Despite the evident perceptions of being drowned in benthic depths
tum masarrat kaa kaho yaa ise gam kaa rishtaa
kahte hain pyaar kaa rishtaa hai janam kaa rishtaa
hai janam kaa jo ye rishtaa to badaltaa kyon hai?

A soulful charm or just bound by ache

‘Tis said of love, it transcends life and death

If such is true, why always changes in rule?

Away

Away

Such is d beauty of Nature, to behold and be charmed
Dazed mesmerized lost in this cloudy mist
Amazing how time runs and leaves no footprints on sand
Happy tears pay ode to every granule of dust
And each pearl of rains that this cheerful spring brings to the land.
In a chase, to pursue this etheral magic spell
Away away i wanna run away into the wild

INCONGRUITY

INCONGRUITY

Every rose bears a prickly thorn
Lucky in love or lost and lorne
Tears and cheers are predictably anon
Lifes a gamble since the day when born
Always in’tween choices are we torn
A tug of war of faith, but fate unkown!

Unrequited: The Divine Comedy!

Unrequited: The Divine Comedy!

Luckily fate brought them together twice
But Dante's love was unrequited, from his side
The mischievous Cupid was at his play
His amorous charms shielded away from Beatrice dame
A May flower, that he first saw when he was eight
Bowled over by her grace and beauty from the moment they met
Unaware of his awe and chalance
She lived her parallel life, love and death
The cruel comedy, with him the divine plotted
Dante in his famed work had jotted
Dante-Beatrice live no more
Yet the Gods still play the chess of unrequited amor

Immiscible

Immiscible
Copyright © SHRAVANI MUKHERJEE

To jump, to leap, to run and skip
Life is a race against time
Moving ahead of obstacled-heap

To speak, to shout and loudly scream
Every story be told
Dont let your fairy tale be just a dream

To paint, to scratch and randomly scribble
A graffiti on the walls uncolored
Expressions and feelings not to be fiddled

To scoot, to dive and fly
Away from known directions
Against the tide

To light fire from water, To bend away the rules
Make plausible all the things that could never be
Impossible shall no more be in this roost
Not to blend in, be immiscible each thou soul
